The great potential of a University campus which is located in a central area of the city is to create an interface between science and citizens. The Centre for Science and Culture understands academic work as an integral component of cultural production — the presentation of knowledge to a wider audience requires specific exhibition spaces accommodating diverse scientific formats. The underground building provides a variety of these exhibition spaces derived from archetypical forms — from the cave, to the gallery, to the sphere. The Centre for Science and Culture can also be seen as an invisible monument for the social mission of academic endeavours and achievements.
