Self Sufficient Communities Andrea Lorena Vallejo Espinosa, Ronell Joseph

The project deals with the phenomenon of illegal mining through the case study of the mineral mica.
The authors propose a shift of the income source from mica mining to adobe brick production and aquaculture. This allows for the community to be self sufficient and to transform the former mining landscape into a site specific village structure following the logics of the existing landscape and adobe brick construction.
